This site carries no affiliate links and takes no commission on anything.
Every outbound link here goes straight to an operator or to the National Park Service, unmodified and untracked by us. Nobody has paid to appear on this site, nobody has paid for a better position on a page, and no operator has seen a page about themselves before it was published.
What a commission never buys
These hold now and they hold when the commercial arrangement changes. They are the whole reason this site is worth reading.
It does not buy a recommendation
Where we say a guided trip is not worth the money, that stays on the page whether or not there is a commission behind the link. Several pages here tell you to do something yourself for free instead of booking it, and that is not going to change.
It does not buy a place
Operators appear because they are relevant and because we can verify what they publish. An operator we have never checked does not get a profile at any price, and a company that pays cannot displace one that does not.
It does not buy a price
Prices on this site come from the operator’s own published material. If a figure is wrong we correct it, including when the correction is unflattering, and if we have not checked something we say so instead of quoting a number.
Two things we will not do at any price
Paid placement dressed as editorial, and reviews or ratings we did not earn the right to publish. There are no star ratings anywhere on this site and no testimonials, because we have not collected any. Inventing them would be the single fastest way to make everything else here worthless.
What to look for on any page here
Every page carries the month its facts were checked, in the byline at the top and again in the footer. Outbound links go to the operator’s own site rather than to a booking aggregator. Operator profiles state where every figure came from, and where we have not verified something the page says so plainly instead of leaving a gap you cannot see.
The clearest test is the pages that argue against spending money. The hiking page says the best thing in Zion is free. Guided hiking tells you which trails are a waste of a guide. One operator profile explains why renting beats the guided tour the same shop’s competitors sell. A site optimising for commission does not publish those.
