The only beds inside the boundary
Everything else on this site is in Springdale, outside the park. Zion Lodge is not, and that single fact is what you are paying for.
It sits on the canyon floor at shuttle stop 5, about halfway up the scenic drive, with the Emerald Pools trails starting across the road and the Grotto one stop further on. It is also the only food, shade and restrooms in the canyon, which makes it the natural middle of anyone’s day whether they are staying there or not.
The park counts 76 hotel rooms, 6 suites and 40 historic cabins. One hundred and twenty two units, against a park that receives millions of visitors a year. Scarcity is the defining feature and it shapes both the price and how far ahead you have to think.
The comparison nobody makes
An electric site at Watchman Campground is $45 a night and sits just inside the entrance, closer to the pedestrian gate than the Lodge is. If being inside the park is the point rather than the room itself, camping gets you there for a fraction of the money.
Three kinds of room, and the cabins are the draw

We are not publishing nightly rates
Zion Lodge prices by season and by date and does not publish a simple rate card, so any figure on a page like this one would be wrong within a month. Quote it live from their booking system instead. Everywhere else on this site we publish rates operators publish themselves, and this is a case where there is nothing stable to publish.
What you get, and what you give up
Staying inside a national park sounds unambiguously better than staying outside one. Here it is a genuine trade, and it is worth making with your eyes open.
What it buys
The canyon at both ends of the day. Day visitors arrive on a bus and leave on one, so the hours before the first shuttle and after the last are quiet in a way the middle of the day never is. You step out of the door into that.
Emerald Pools starts across the road. The Grotto, and Angels Landing, are one stop up. You are already in the middle of the canyon rather than commuting into it, and it is the only place in the park with a kitchen.
What it costs you
You are still four stops from The Narrows. The Temple of Sinawava is stop 9 and the Lodge is stop 5, so the day’s biggest hike still starts with a bus ride, and you are boarding after everyone who got on lower down.
There is no town. One dining room, no shops, no gear rental, nowhere else to eat if you do not fancy it. If your evening plans involve a choice of restaurants, Springdale has them and this does not.
The honest summary: the Lodge is worth it if you want the canyon at dawn and dusk, and it is a poor deal if you want a base with services. Compare against the hotels nearest the entrance, where a low numbered shuttle stop gets you onto the 7:00am bus from a town with food in it.
The parking question, and why we cannot answer it for you
The scenic drive is closed to private vehicles in season. The Lodge is on the scenic drive.
Those two facts sit awkwardly together, and how they resolve is the most valuable thing about a Lodge booking. The park states plainly that private vehicles cannot access the scenic drive during shuttle season, and does not spell out what that means for guests. The Lodge’s own material refers to guest parking.
The usual arrangement at parks that work this way is that a room reservation permits a guest vehicle to drive to the lodge itself and park there, and nothing beyond. We are not going to state that as fact for Zion, because neither the park nor the Lodge says it in those words anywhere we can point you to.
Ask these three questions when you book
Can I drive to the Lodge on the day I arrive, and on the days between? Where exactly do I park and is it included? And what do I show at Canyon Junction to be let through? Get the answers in writing on your confirmation, because the person on the gate will not be interested in what a website said.
One hundred and twenty two units, and a very long queue
Book as early as you are willing to commit, and expect spring and autumn dates to be gone long before you think about them. Cabins go first, suites are effectively a lottery, and hotel rooms are the realistic target for most people.
Reservations go through the Lodge directly, and the park lists 1-833-778-9290 as the number. Phoning is worth doing even when the site shows nothing, because cancellations land and a date that looks impossible online is sometimes available to someone who asks.
If you cannot get in
Watchman Campground is inside the park at $35 to $45 a night and books six months out. It is closer to the pedestrian entrance than the Lodge is.
If you want services
Springdale has the food, the gear rental and the choice, on one road served by a free shuttle to the park gate.
If position is the point
The stop number is the ranking, and the canyon shuttle leaves an hour before the town one, which changes which rooms are worth paying for.
